Holidays....

SMW is packing her bags, preparing to fly into the Great White Wilderness where there is no wireless internet and people have guns....in their house! Yes, I am leaving London for the rest of the year (not long enough!) to celebrate Christmas (you know the holiday with Christ before the Mas, take that CHRC) with family and friends.

For those of you hanging out in London over the holidays, please stop by the Ahava store in Covent Garden this Saturday to pick up some gifts for your loved ones. Anti-Israel campaigners will again be targeting the store on Saturday afternoon. Shop till you drop!! I will be shopping Ahava on the other side of the Atlantic.

You will find below two videos, both of which are some of my favourite all time Christmas/holiday tv specials (yes you will see I have varied taste!).

Merry Christmas and may God bless you in the coming year.

See you in 2010,

Oboring...? Obama, van Rompuy and World Government

Mark Steyn:
By contrast, the point of Barack Obama is to dazzle. That's why he got all the magazine covers of him emerging topless from the Hawaiian surf, as if his beautifully sculpted pectorals were long-vanished Pacific atolls restored to sunlight after he'd fulfilled his pledge to lower the oceans before the end of his first term. The squealing Obammyboppers of the media seem to have gotten more muted since those inaugural specials hit the newsstands back in late January. His numbers have fallen further faster than those of any other president – because of where he fell from: As Evan Thomas of Newsweek drooled a mere six months ago, Obama was "standing above the country ... above the world. He's sort of God." That's a long drop.
The Obama speechwriting team doesn't seem to realize that. They seem to be the last guys on the planet in love with the sound of his voice and their one interminable tinny tune with its catchpenny hooks.

Read the whole thing.

Am I the only person who laughed out loud while reading this?

Thousands of people have joined campaigns to keep Cadbury British, amid fears an American firm like Kraft would not understand its moral ethos...

It gets funnier.

Obama and Fat Cat Bankers......

Obama blames bankers for causing credit crisis as he tries to bully them into giving people more credit (even if they don't deserve) despite regulations he wants to enact making it harder to do so.

"They're still puzzled why is it that people are mad at the banks. Well, let's see," he said. "You guys are drawing down $10, $20 million bonuses after America went through the worst economic year that it's gone through in -- in decades, and you guys caused the problem. And we've got 10% unemployment."

Get it?????

Looks like Obama wants to play....

Beware of Thomas the Tank Engine, but is he worse than Barbie?

The Toronto Star recently ran a piece by Canadian professor Shauna Hilton claiming that Thomas the Tank Engine and Friends was baaaaaad for girls because Thomas is a man and female characters on the show only have "supportive roles," it expresses a "conservative ideology" and "opposes change." No, unlike my earlier post about the CHRC issuing a memo on Political Catholicism, this is not a spoof.

Mothers can't you see this? How could you let your little girls watch Thomas? He has the evil number "1" on his side, implying being the front of the train makes him the best in a world where everyone should be equal. Did you not notice he is blue, a colour which only reinforces masculine and feminine stereotypes? (Clearly they should have painted Thomas a more gender neutral colour like yellow or pale green.) Hopefully it is only a matter of time before Thomas is replaced with a more appropriate role model like Tenacious Thomasina the Transgendered Tank Engine or Tatianna the Tank Engine, a female tank engine so strong she spends all day pulling the male train cars around.

Thankfully Marni Soupcoff at The National Post has called Hilton on this ridiculous study of Thomas:

Lock up your little girls, parents. Apparently, that friendly blue engine with a roundhouse full of pals is really a woman-hating oppressor who sidelines female mechanical devices and could destroy your daughters’ self-esteem.
The ridiculous part (not that the whole Thomas-as-misogynist thing isn’t more than a little ridiculous in itself) is that the professor in question, Shauna Hilton, has a three-year-old daughter who loves Thomas. Hilton — a political scientist at the University of Alberta, Augustana — seems to be of the view that it’s good that her daughter watches the show and plays with Thomas trains and toys. She just thinks it’s important that she talks to her daughter about the episodes and points out the ways in which they are sexist, anachronistic and potentially damaging. Oh, Mommy, what fun!

Whack a Banker

So when will someone come out with Whack a Welfare/Benefits Recipient???????

The Telegraph:
He added: ''The bankers are bald and all look the same because that's how I think people see bankers - as faceless.
''And, of course, the bankers never really lose. If you win the game a banker's voice says: 'You win. We retire. Thank you very much to the taxpayer for paying our pensions'.''

SMW thinks a more appropriate prize would be a t-shirt with Dear Leader on it.

CHRC Revises Policy on "Political Catholicism"

When I first saw the title and cover page for this report, I thought it was for real. It is a spoof, a pretty good one. The mere fact that so many people have seen the title of the report, "Canadian Human Rights Commission Policy On 'Political Catholicism," and believed it to be true is scary in and of itself. My initial thoughts were not "I am so surprised this cannot be true," but rather "wow they've gone twenty steps too far this time."

And this is the problem with the Canadian Human Rights Commission. It is not known as a protector of human rights. The CHRC, in the minds of many Canadians, is associated with limiting free speech and prosecuting Christians to the extent that this report seems almost entirely believable. And this is why the CHRC needs to go.

Bombardier Robert Kay: A hero, not a fool

The Telegraph:Italic
French officials said that during a routine patrol through the town the day after Liberation Day Bdr Key spotted a group of children who had crowded around a live grenade in a farmer's field.
He rushed over, grabbed the grenade from one, cradled it in his jacket, but as he dashed away from the group it exploded, causing him to die instantly.
During the subsequent military inquiry, his “foolish behaviour” was blamed for his death.
No other troops were present during the accident and it appeared the army failed to properly translate the witness statements from local residents.

Setting the record straight:
Officials in the French town where he was stationed are to honour the soldiers’ bravery on the 65th anniversary of his death in September next year, by naming a road after him on the spot where he died

UK to label food from "illegal" West Bank Settlements

Click this link to the Guardian if you want to read their usual garbage (this is the same newspaper, um Hamas mouthpiece, who left Israelis off their list of Nobel Prize winners).

Via YNET:

First report: The British government advised all food chains in the UK to clearly mark any imported products made in Judea, Samaria, and the Golan Heights, Ynet learned Thursday.
The decision prompted deep dissatisfaction at the Foreign Ministry, which characterized the step as "capitulation to Palestinian organizations." However, British officials insist that the decision does not constitute a boycott against Israel
According to information received at the Ministry Thursday afternoon, the British government recommended that a prominent label be placed on hundreds of Israeli products made in Israeli settlements.
British officials are saying that the new move does not constitute a boycott, but rather, aims at transparency in a bid to warn consumers who do not wish to purchase such products. However, Israeli officials are unconvinced by the explanation and see the latest move as further escalation in the British trend to initiate boycotts of various kinds.
"We are talking about a worrisome move," a diplomatic source in Jerusalem told Ynet. "No similar move has been undertaken in any other country. What's concerning here is the conspicuous designation of Israeli products under guise of transparency and concern for British consumers."

After reading this, and the post immediately preceding, you should have a pretty good idea of how Britain feels about its Jewish citizens and their relatives in Israel.

Read of the Week: Britain and Israel....

Andrew Roberts via Melanie Phillips:
Very often in Britain, especially when faced with the overwhelmingly anti-Israeli bias that is endemic in our liberal media and the BBC, we fail to ask ourselves what we would not do placed in the same position? The population of the United Kingdom of 63 millions is nine times that of Israel. In July 2006, to take one example entirely at random, Hezbollah crossed the border of Lebanon into Israel and killed 8 patrolmen and kidnapped 2 others, and that summer fired 4,000 Katyusha rockets into Israel which killed a further 43 civilians. Now, if we multiply those numbers by nine to get the British equivalent, just imagine what we would not do if a terrorist organization based as close as Calais were to fire 36,000 rockets into Sussex and Kent, killing 387 British civilians, after killing 72 British servicemen in an ambush and capturing a further eighteen? I put it to you that there is absolutely no lengths to which our Government would not go to protect British subjects under those circumstances, and quite right too. So why should Israel be expected to behave any differently?

Square Mile Red Alert: 68% Tax on Bonuses Over 25K

Well, if they want The City to leave this is the way to do it.

If this is not repealed you can say goodbye to London as a leading financial centre. People can whine and complain all they want about the amount of money bankers make, but the truth is that workers in the City contribute millions of pounds to London's (and Britain's) economy, on top of the large amount of taxes they already pay. Alisdair Darling should be careful what he wishes for.

The Financial Times (link above):
“I can’t tell you how many people have called me from London asking to move,” a senior Wall Street banker said. “The question all the banks have now is: who the hell wants to be in the UK? Some businesses will definitely leave.”
One investment banking chief said the “contract between government and business is broken”, warning that up to 40 per cent of the City’s activities were “mobile” and would move overseas to more welcoming jurisdictions, such as Switzerland and the US.
Angela Knight, chief executive of the British Bankers Association, said: “Viewed from abroad, London may well look now like a significantly less attractive place to build a business.”

SMW already knows a few people who have resigned recently because of conditions in the UK, this number is certain to grow. Many expats here will tell you the only reason they have stayed "this long" is the money - and with that gone you can be sure all these hard-working productive people will take themselves and their money elsewhere.

I've always been a believer in the (Canadian) public school system...

Equal access to an excellent education helps even the playing field for many children who might not otherwise have a chance.

But when I see stuff like this, it makes me seriously consider homeschooling.

SMW will say this a million times: Parents, please pay attention to what is going on in your kid's school.

The BBC bows to anti-war campaigners......and this is news?

The BBC is filming a Question Time panel that will discuss the war in Afghanistan. Anti-war campaigners were not happy that only two of the five panel members were anti-war (boohoo) so they pressured BBC into getting a 6th member for the panel (which they normally do NOT do for this show). The original panel included:
Bill Rammell, the Armed Forces Minister; Sir Richard Dannatt, the former Chief of the General Staff, who is now a Tory defence adviser; William Hague, the Shadow Foreign Secretary; Piers Morgan, a fierce critic of the Iraq war when editor of the Daily Mirror, and Salma Yaqoob, leader of Respect and a Birmingham City councillor.
Now added to the panel is Lord Ashdown, former leader of the Liberal Democrats.

What is most disturbing about this panel is not who is in it or why, but where it is being filmed. The Times reports:
Filming the show in Wootton Bassett, where residents routinely line the streets in their hundreds to receive fallen soldiers, has already proved highly controversial, with the town’s mayor complaining that the BBC would “cheapen the whole repatriation efforts to use it for political effect”.
The debate is likely to be acutely political, especially after the number of members of the armed forces to lose their lives in Afghanistan reached 100 earlier this week. The repatriation of Acting Sergeant John Amer, the 99th servicemen to be killed, took place yesterday.

For my 'foreign' readeres - Wootton Bassett is where the bodies of British soldiers killed in Iraq and Afghanistan are repatriated. I agree with the mayor. This does cheapen repatriation efforts and it is like spitting on the coffins of the outstanding men and women who have died serving their country. The BBC should be ashamed, not for having this panel, but for where they have chosen to film it - but they won't be. Likely someone is getting a pat on the back right now.

Update: Veteran wins battle vs. homewoners' association

Last week I wrote about Col. Van T. Barfoot, an awesome, decorated war veteran who was fighting for his right to fly an American flag from a flagpole in his front yard. Mission accomplished.

FOX:
A 90-year-old Medal of Honor recipient can keep his 21-foot flagpole in his front yard after a homeowner's association dropped its request to remove it, a spokesman for Democratic Virginia Sen. Mark Warner said Tuesday.
The Sussex Square homeowners' association likewise has agreed to drop threats to take legal action against retired Army Col. Van T. Barfoot, Warner spokesman Kevin Hall said.

According to FOX, two Dem. Senators rallied behind Barfoot and even Press Secretary Robert Gibbs called the request "silly."

Good news for Wednesday morning.

Protest Recap....

Tonight Christians, Jews and others gathered to protest the Carol Sing (where the lyrics were changed to slander Israel) held at the Actors Church in Covent Garden, which was raising money for Hamas loving groups.

John Sullivan, dared to show his face at this event and continued to spew his Jew hating rhetoric.

Aside from one very misguided moment when protestors sang the First Noel with changed lyrics (you can't protest people desecrating Christmas for political reasons than do the same thing yourself), it was a solid and peaceful protest. Several people passing by stopped to chat with me about what we were doing and why - and they were shocked and disgusted to hear what was going on inside the church. It's always nice to have a little support.

What was not so nice were the few people who walked by and called us disgusting murderers.

Wish I could write more but someone threw up when I was riding the tube home and now I am feeling a bit ill myself....

*Sticky, scroll down for updates*More from this AntiSemite....and a reminder about tomorrow night!

No doubt many of you have seen the video I posted last week of John Sullivan's antiSemitic ravings outside a fundraiser for the PSC. Chas Newkey-Burden has posted a new clip from full length unedited video over at Oyvagoy. In the clip, the man claims Rupert Murdoch is Jewish, tells the videographer he is the bigot and says he is not welcome in this country.

And so let me remind all my readers that there is an important rally in London tomorrow night outside an event that will be full of anti Semites like John Sullivan raising money for groups with ties to Hamas.

These despicable actions cannot be met with silence. Contact me if you need further details.

Minister at PSC supporting church: Jesus would embrace Sharia or something....

So Simon Perry (known to some as a reverend) of Bloombsury Baptist Church, which last week hosted a carol service to raise money for the PSC has found himself in a bit of hot water this week. Jonathan Sacerdoti addressed Perry in a response posted over at Harry's Place after he defended his church's role in the event. It is here that one of the commenters directed me to Perry's own blog, where he wrote a truly telling (not to be confused with truth telling) post about Sharia in Britain.

Excerpt:
Sharia law is often characterised as medieval and crude, particularly as it relates to marriage for instance. But anyone who has tasted the workings of the British Divorce industry can hardly see it is a sophisticated and fair system! (Listen to the Fathers for Justice organisation!) Social evils from gun crime to housing shortages find their roots in the family breakdown that the divorce industry in Britain promotes. And we fear Sharia law!
The Evangelical leaders and the imbecilic dictators of Right wing press stand together in playing out the role of the Pharisee. Condemning others for the sake of the precious values and customs that they themselves have come to treasure.

If those evil Evangelicals and right-wing loonies would only embrace Sharia, Britain would be so much better off. I wonder if Simon Perry would be there to throw the first stone?

American Charged in Mumbai Massacre

Over the past several weeks Rusty, at the Jawa Report, has put up several posts about the arrest of an American and Canadian terrorist in the Chicago area. He wrote, repeatedly, about the connections and the very real possibility that David Headley (who changed his name to help facilitate his recon missions prior to the Mumbai attacks) played an active role in the Mumbai attacks. However it seemed very few "big" sites wanted to pick up this story. SMW did - and also tried to generate more interest in this story (like the Little Engine that could).

Today: It is official. David Headley has been CHARGED for his involvement in the Mumbai attacks. Rusty has the details which confirm what he has been saying all along.

This is not 'feel good' news, and acknowledging it means having to look at some sad realities on American and Canadian soil - but burying your head in the sand will not stop the wheels of jihad from turning. In your backyard.

Headline: 'Police tackle massive rise in "honour" violence cases"

Evening Standard:
But the following year the number had jumped to 256, of which 132 were criminal offences. And 211 incidents have already been reported in the first six months of this financial year, of which 129 were offences.
This number is more than double the same period last year. There have been a series of horrific attacks which police suspect were motivated by “honour” within the family or community.
Detectives are still investigating the death of mother-of-two Geeta Aulakh, 28, hacked down with a sword in a Greenford street last month. A student aged 18 has been charged with murder.
In July a 24-year-old Asian man from Denmark lost part of his tongue and was left blind in one eye when he had acid thrown in his face in Leytonstone. He was the suspected lover of a married Muslim woman. Two men are awaiting trial.

If only the women weren't so unruly. Not to worry, Barbie will be safe.

The obligatory Climategate post.....

Except for a brief post a few weeks ago I have not written about Climategate. No, I do not live under a rock - it is just really not my area of expertise. Then again, considering the people who consider themselves experts on "Global Warming" or Cooling or Climate Change, Climate Justice, whatever they're calling it these days, it would not take much for me to sound like a pro.

Please allow me to direct you to an excellent letter (H/T Small Dead Animals), written by Christopher Essex, Associate Chair of the Department of Applied Mathematics at the University of Western Ontario (Go Mustangs!):

Wonderland is certainly where I have been trapped for more than twenty years. But it is not nearly as nice as Alice’s version. Thoughts of the inquisition come to mind instead. Many of we scientists have been ringing the alarm bells from the beginning on this. We have been telling everyone who would listen about who we were dealing with. We have known all along. Climategate is no surprise at all to us. Evidence for this is in my book with Ross McKitrick from 2002, Taken by Storm. It won a $10,000 prize, and is now in a second edition. But few were listening. If my book had a title like Oh, my God, we are all going to die, I am sure that it would have been on the NYT bestseller list at once.

Do click the link above and read it all.
If you are looking for a one stop shop on Climategate check out Small Dead Animals. Kate has this one more than covered.

A Strong, Nuclear Iran and weak, cowardly Europe

States ruled by Islamic ideologies view the atheist Europe as weak, depleted, and fatigued. They view it as lacking the motivation to protect the values of democracy it brought to the world. This weak image stirs the sense of Islamic authority in Iran and in Turkey that promotes their leaders to openly express their feelings: Christians, Jews and others may live, but under the wings of Islam, as their dhimmis (ahl al-dhimmah), as long as they adhere to their dictates.

Dr. Mordechi Kedar observes the pressure Iran is putting on the Swiss government to overturn the 'minaret ban' (not just Iran, Turkey has threatened to withdraw its funds from Swiss banks), and imagines what kind of concessions and accomodations an emboldened, nuclear Iran will ask of Europe:

Cutting ties with Israel
Cutting ties with the US, should it adopt a policy that contradicts Iranian interests
Cutting ties with Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and Jordan
Withdrawn European forces from Iraq and Afghanistan
Recognizing Hamas instead of the PLO as the Palestinian people’s sole legitimate representative
Recognizing Hezbollah as Lebanon’s representatives
Granting a large number of work and immigration visas to Muslims
Expelling Iranian opposition figures back to Iran
Providing state funds for the building of mosques (with minarets, of course) and Islamic schools in any European city with a minimal number of Muslims
Permitting Muslim women to wear a hijab (head cover), niqab (face cover) and burqa (full-body cover)
A ban on alcohol sales in stores located at a 30-mile radius of the residence of the nearest Muslim
An obligation to teach Islam in all European schools via a curriculum to be formulated by the Iranian embassy in every European state
Shutting down TV channels, newspapers, and pornographic websites
Monitoring email
Banning the production of cell phones with cameras
Obligating all women to wear a full-body bathing suit, including a head scarf, at the beach

Support the SEALS

Alright I wrote about this story last week; Navy SEALS are being prosecuted because the murdering terrorist they arrested allegedly got a fat lip from one of them. This is the same murdering terrorist responsible for burning four US contractors alive, dragging them through the streets and hanging their bodies from a bridge.

For my readers from the States (yes, that means you Americans!) Gateway Pundit has information and link to a website organizing a campaign of support for these brave American men who put their lives on the line for you.

Warning: This video contains images some may find disturbing.

London Rappers (aka thugs) Try to Kill Pregnant Teenage Girlfriend

This is a prime picture of the ghetto culture in London. SMW knows Lewisham (where the victim was from) and Islington (where they tried to kill her) all too well. This is a culture where women are seen as trash that can be easily disposed of, and where violence is the answer to almost every problem. There is no respect for authority, for others or for yourself. There are double standards and excuses, but never accountability. Until today, when two teen rappers who tried to kill a pregnant teenager because they though she would hurt their chance at fame were sentenced to a lengthy (but not lengthy enough) jail sentence.

Sadly this moment of accountability is an exception, and it comes far too late in the lives of these two cowards - the damage has already been done to the victim and her family.

The Times:
Brandon Jolie, 19, who made an album with the chart-topping grime star Tinchy Stryder, casually discussed having the youngster killed so that she would not be able to have his baby.
Jolie, whose music was used in a Nike advert and in the British film Adulthood, recruited fellow musician Kingsley Ogundele, 19, during a six-hour online chat after complaining that she was “trying to f*** up my life”.
They lured the girl to the Regents Canal in Islington, North London, where Ogundele battered her over the head with a metal pole, then punched and kicked her before pushing her into the water and holding her head down.

She only survived because a brave passer-by interrupted the attack as Ogundele tried to drown her.

Andrew Hall, the man who bravely intervened and stopped this brutal attack from turning into a murder is my hero of the week. Readers might think this is what any decent man would have done - but they are few and far between in a city where EVERYONE thinks twice about intervening in a dispute. Trust me.

The attackers were sentenced to 14 and 18 years in prison.

The Culture War is real: Openly anti-Semitic French Comedian admits receiving funds from Iran

LumpyGrumpyandFrumpy has the scoop.

"An openly anti-Semitic French comedian admitted Saturday that he received funds from Iran in order to wage a war of culture against Zionism."Dieudonné M'bala M'bala told reporters of the meeting held a week ago between himself and Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad."'We received a substantial budget allowing us to make movies on par with Hollywood, which serves as the long arm of Zionist culture,' he said at a press conference in Paris."

Go to the link up top. LGandF has much more on this story.

Homeowners' Association goes after 90 Year Old Decorated War Hero for....having a flagpole

The Homeowners' Association at Sussex Square community in Virginia are trying to force Col. Van T. Barfoot, a 90 year old Medal of Honor and Purple Heart recipient who served in three wars and is one of the country's last surviving World War Two veterans, to take down the flagpole he put up in his front yard where he proudly flies the American Flag.

FOX News:
"I've flown the flag at my home as long as I can remember," said Barfoot, who lived in rural Amelia County before moving to suburban Richmond. "This is the first time in the last 36 years that I've been unable to put my flag up on the same pole, the same staff and take it down when it's time to come down.
"I don't have any qualms with [the board's] authority, but the thing about it is that I cannot get enough conversation out of them where we can try to work out a solution," Barfoot said.

If the Sussex Square Homeowners' Association (contact details here) forces this man to take down his flagpole I can suggest a new, perhaps more appropriate, location for it.

And an Israeli in a Pear Tree: Carol Service to Raise Money for Israel and Jew Hating Groups *Sticky*

On Tuesday December 8th, a mish mash of anti Israel activists will be holding a carol service with "alternative lessons and songs of protest for Palestine," in order to raise money for various Palestinian charities (more on that later). The event's main sponsor is JBIG (Jews for Boycotting Israeli Goods), who I guess are not really into the Christmas spirit since they are ready to completely destroy it with this Israel hating, Jew hating, spit on the face of Christianity event. What an embarrassment for any church going person (including myself) that the Church of England would associate itself with this vileness (another reason why I refuse to attend the CofE). The event is being held at The Actor's Church, St. Paul's in Covent Garden London.

The poster includes this cartoon, which depicts a pregnant Mary and Joseph trying to enter Bethlehem while being searched and having their belongings destroyed by the IDF:

Let's have a look at who is involved in this event...
The poster for the event promises a live performance of a scene from Go to Gaza, Drink the Sea, performed by the original cast members. This highly criticized play (which repeats falsehoods about the IDF attacking children inside a UN school, and has a set that includes a massive pile of shoes - comparing Gaza to Aushwitz) was written by Justin Butcher (who also penned The Madness of George Dubya, and Guantanamo Baywatch) and Ahmed Masoud.

Ahmed Masoud is a Palestinian writer/journalist who has gone on the record (at the BBC and other outlets) defending Hamas, repeating lies about the 'massacre' at the UN school in Gaza, claiming that Hamas would never launch missiles from civilian areas, and that Palestinians "lost their country" in 1948. Masoud was also at the centre of an OFCOM ruling against George Galloway's radio show. On Galloway's show, Masoud again served as an apologist for Hamas and attacked Israel. You can read about the case on OFCOM's website or on The CST's blog.

The following are listed as "Special Guests" at the event:
Lauren Booth - An active supporter of Stop the War, member of Media Workers Against the War, and a member of the National Union of Journalists. She is perhaps most well known for being Tony Blair's sister in law (too bad for him). One of her most famous exploits involves a trip she took to Gaza during Operation Cast Lead. Booth lamented the horrible conditions in Gaza, comparing it to a Concentration Camp, only to have some pictures turn up that told a slightly different story. She also met with Hamas leadership who gave her a special diplomatic passport for her visit.

Ghada Karmi - A doctor and writer she has written various posts at The Guardian's Comment is Free blog. In her writings she advocates for a one state solution - a Palestine that includes Israel, the West Bank, and Gaza. Karmi describes pro-Israel intellectuals as "intellectual terrorists" and says the 'pro-Israel Lobby' is the "least attractive export from America, following behind Coca-Cola, McDonald's and Friends."

Bruce Kent - An anti-nuclear proliferation guy. You can read a good write-up of his involvement in last year's event at NGO Monitor.

Baroness Jenny Tonge - Also known as Jihad Jenny, Ms. Tongue increased her notoriety in 2004 when she said she might consider being a suicide bomber if she herself was Palestinian. It should come as no surprise that she is a patron of the PSC. One blogger at the Telegraph wrote this about her:
This year, as Murray reports, she met Khaled Mesha’al, the political leader of Hamas, praising him as “shrewd, plausible and actually very likeable.” Last year she shared a platform with Azzam Tamini, a British Palestinian activist and another enthusiast for suicide bombing. On this occasion she said that the ‘Jewish lobby’ in the United States was responsible for all of the world’s ills.

Well this doesn't really sound like the group of "Special Guests" my mom would want me to bring home for Christmas dinner.

Where are the proceeds from this event going?
After all, they are charging 10GBP/ticket.

Free Gaza Movement
A group with plenty-o-ties to Hamas.
Militant Islam Monitor wrote about their envoy to Gaza:
For their efforts the Free Gaza protesters, were "honored" by the terrorist leader. According to an email, they were invited, "to lunch with Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh at his house inside the refugee camp," whereupon, "He placed a large medal around each of our necks and spoke to us about who we are, and we were able to respond." Additionally the protesters were notified that the residents of Gaza City would name a square after them, calling it "Free Gaza Square."
How nice.
PJ Media also has a write up about this, and some great photos of the Free Gaza Movement's envoy meeting with Hamas leaders and getting their 'medals.'

Wi'am The Palestinian Conflict Resolution Centre
At first glance this may look like a nice, Christian conflict resolution centre. However if you look again you will see that this is not the case. Read some of their 'publications' which are clearly anti Israel and anti-Semitic.
The organization's director and founder Zoughbi Zoughbi claimed in an interview with Christian Today that Christians do not face any additional hardships under Hamas, and in fact says that Israel is responsible for Christians being "wiped out" of Palestine. In an interview with National Catholic Review, Zoughbi said that Palestinians are "the indirect victims of the Holocaust, victims of the victims of the Holocaust. Israel was formed from guilt, and in the process displaced hundreds of thousands of people."

The Women Projects Coordinator, Lucy Taglieh, has gone on record saying Palestinian land is "stolen" and has traveled to various events and schools in the states to spread their anti Israel dogma. Another staff member, Laila Ewaiwi has written articles describing Hamas as an "Islamic resistance group" and sympathetic to their agenda.

Interpal
Well SMW is not sure where to begin or end on this one, so I will keep it short. Interpal has faced numerous accusations of ties with Hamas and other terror groups. Previously its assets were frozen after being named on the US's SDGT list, then later they were unfrozen. The group has faced countless accusations because of its questionable ties, and currently several UK banks are moving to end any business dealings and association with them.

Also listed as sponsors of the caroling event: Amos Trust, BRICUP, Britain Palestine Twinning Network, Council for Arab-British Understanding, Friends of Sabeel-UK, International Jewish Anti-Zionist Network, Just Peace for Palestine, War On Want, Zaytoun

One cannot dismiss these events as trivial nonsense - take a look at what happened earlier this week in London when another church held a similar carol sing to raise money for PSC.

WHAT CAN YOU DO?
One may wish to contact the church involved (details below). This happened last year, and the church did pull out, however the event was simply moved to another location (another church in fact) so I am not sure if there is much point in that.
Actors Church
Email: info@actorschurch.com
Phone: 0207 836 5221
If you do contact them please be polite and do not use any threatening language.

BETTER OPTION:
Get thee to London!!
Join us and stand up against this vileness.

There will be a (silent) protest outside the Church by Jews and Christians and everyone else too hopefully. Meet 6.45, bring Israeli flags, leaflets provided. If you do not have a flag you can download one in colour and print it on A3 paper. Be careful with personal possessions eg handbags, it is a central london public location, will be dark and there are thieves aplenty.

Please feel free to contact me for further details.

Cheesy, but true, quote time:
All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing.

Disgusting *Updated*: Most English people would tell you to fuck off back to Israel...

*Updated, see below*
Welcome readers of FiveFeetofFury and BlazingCatFur,

As I wrote about earlier this week, the PSC had a fundraiser carol sing at Bloomsbury Baptist Church in London. A friend of mine spent some time chatting with people as they were entering the church. The video is below. Prepare to be revolted. I have transcribed parts of the video (below). THIS is one of the many faces of anti-Semitism in the UK. This voice cannot go unanswered. If you live in the UK please keep your calendar clear for the evening of 8 December. More details to follow.

Enjoy the comedy gold at the last few seconds of the video:

AntiSemite: “Everybody in Britain can see what a nasty type, unpleasant people, Jewish people are in England. So if you’re living in England (..muttering…), so if you’re living in England, you should take the part of English people. You’re parasites *inaudible* if you behave like this. English people, basically Christian, brought up in a Christian country or not, should be abiding by the type of life we live in England. *interjection by someone* No, I’m doing the talking. This is not a discussion. You cannot discuss with Jewish people, that is your philosophy.”
“It’s part of Britain, it’s a culture *inaudible* You’re people don’t understand it. You are not part of my culture. You’re Jewish and you’re paid to be Israeli Zionist. Do you know anything about the Christian religion or British/European tolerance in this country? *muttering* You don’t know the first commandment? I don’t know anything about Hebrew. It’s love your neighbour. Have you got anything similar to that in the Jewish religion? What? An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth. That’s what it is. And it’s perfect *inaudible* that you’ve got this here tonight.”
Videorgrapher: So what does that tell you about Jews then?
Antisemite: “Well it tells you that you are cruel, unpleasant people in this respect. Not in most respects, I’ve got friends that are Jewish – they are not Zionists.
Videographer: What about Hamas?
Antisemite: What about Hamas? There a mouthpiece. What have they done??? What have they done?
Videographer: Are they unpleasant people? They kill Christians, they kill Fatah supporters…
AntiSemite: Well I’m not too concerned….because Jewish people if you look through the history are vindicative and probably evil and very unpleasant. Now that’s not Jewish people who live in Israel because they’re Israeli zealots. Hopefully you’re not, but I tend to think you are, because here you are doing this *pointing out Israel supporters.* You should be ashamed of yourself. Most English people would tell you to fuck off, back to Israel.Videographer: But I’m not from Israel.
AntiSemite: But you’ve relatives there. *inaudible* You should be more English.
Videographer: Inaudible
AntiSemite: I hope I’m a little bit more educated than you are.
*there is some back and forth here, some of which is inaudible – but not the part where he refers to Jews as cannibals*
AntiSemite: It was fun to talk to you but honestly…
Videographer: Alright Merry Christmas, enjoy your Christmas carols.
AntiSemite: Don’t be so silly to say that to me, sir.
Videographer: Why?
AntiSemite: Because we’ve had a blatant argument and I…and you have the philosophy…
Videographer: I can’t wish you a Merry Christmas?
AntiSemite: I wouldn’t accept happy Christmas for you. To everybody in England, if you’re Jewish, please, adhere to the British way of life which is basically Christian, trusting and charitable.

UPDATE: I highly recommend checking out 'Have Yourself a Hamas Little Christmas" penned by Scaramouche and posted on BlazingCatFur.

Christmas Shopping....

Alright, I said I would do it and here it is. If you don't know what to get someone for Christmas SMW suggests any or all of the following, oh and my list is much cooler than Oprah's.

For the ladies...

Ahava Products - because they're awesome. SMW has written about them many times before. Still at the top of my Ahava List is the Uplifting Butter Salt in Tangerine Cedarwood.

For the men...
Your guess is as good as mine.

For the dedicated reader...
The Defence of The Realm: The Authorized History of MI5. It's long, but it's good.

For the lighthearted reader...
The O'Malley Series by Christian writer Dee Henderson. These are mystery novels - but they are lighthearted and clean for those of you who may care. These books have been around for a few years - but if you have not heard of them and you like this kind of stuff check them out.

For the family that plays together...

Scrabble
Trivial Pursuit
Taboo
You cannot go wrong with these games, just make sure they do not have them already.

Well that is it for now. You can go to my products tab to see other stuff I have recommended. SMW believes that simple is often the best when it comes to gift giving. And one word to the men: Do not buy that lady in your life a gym membership for Christmas unless she has specifically asked for one. You might as well give her a card that says Merry Christmas, I think you're fat.
Buy them something nice!!

Clear your calendars....

SMW readers in the London (UK) area: Clear your calendars for the evening of Tuesday 8 December. Find out why tomorrow.

Do it.

Trust me.

Why does anyone work when you can claim asylum and live off the government?

I am still thinking about which country I should flee to and claim asylum.

A Somali family are living in a luxury £1.8million five- storey house in central London funded by the taxpayer.
Nasra Warsame, 40, has lived with seven of her children and her elderly mother in the six-bedroom house since October.
Westminster council pays the £1,600-a-week rent for the former asylum seeker.

The best part is they are citizens now, so they can stay here forever and live off the state.

Shame on Bloomsbury Baptist Church: Holds Christmas Fundraiser for Hamas Supporters

From Oyvagoy:

David Gifford, Chief Executive, Council for Christians and Jews says this church is “politicising the Christmas message. A Christmas carol service should be about the message of Christmas and by politicising that, it misses the point.”- JC 26 November*******************************
Q: So who do you represent and why are you protesting about a carol concert in a church?
A: We are a group of concerned individuals of all faiths and none, who represent no organisation. We are protesting because this event is organised by the Palestinian Solidarity Campaign whose agenda goes far beyond working for the creation of a Palestinian state alongside the State of Israel. The PSC supports the terrorist organisation Hamas whose Charter seeks the genocide of Jews and the destruction of Israel. The PSC was responsible for the appallingly biased TUC Congress statement on Israel which demonised that country.

The continuing decline and irrelevance of the Christian church in England. It is truly a shame.

British sailors detained by Iran released

Phew.

Things to come....

No, this is not a post about the world ending tomorrow, in fact thanks to Climategate any skeptics can now wipe that idea right off their whiteboard.

In the next 24 hours I will be posting some Christmas shopping lists (yay!), and some other goodies. SMW has been in meetings today - and will be tonight - but there will be lots of good stuff going up after that. If you're yearning for some good reading in the next 3-5 hours check out the Jawa Report and Sultan Knish.

The ante is up: Iran captures 5 British Sailors

The Telegraph:

Ali Reza Tangsiri, commander of Iran's Revolutionary Guards navy, told the country's Fars news agency: "The Britons have been arrested by the Revolutionary Guards' naval forces. Confronting foreign forces and detaining them in the Gulf is the Revolutionary Guards' duty."
The five were crewing the racing yacht Kingdom of Bahrain, from Bahrain to Dubai when it was stopped on Wednesday. It is thought to have strayed less than 500 yards inside Iranian waters.

The men are civilians, which Iran will be working to confirm. In the meantime British Foreign Secretary had strong words of support for the young men and urged the Iranian government to free them, well no......not exactly:

"I think it is important to say that these are civilians, not Royal Navel personnel," he told BBC Radio 4's Today programme on Tuesday morning.
"It seems that they may have strayed inadvertedly into Iranian waters."
While he hoped the Iranian authorities would deal with the matter "promptly and clearly" he appeared unwilling to put pressure on the regime.
He said: "The [Iranian] Ministry of Foreign Affairs will be making statement about it today.
"From our point of view it is a purely consular matter involving five civilians and we look forward to it being treated as such.
"There's certainly no confrontation or argument. As far as we are aware, these people are being well treated, which is right and what we would expect of a country like Iran."

Society of No Consequences

When administrators are too lazy and too scared to deal with students appropriately, you get this:

The student screamed at her: "I don't have to listen to you; you are not a person, you are nothing, you do not exist as a person." When Miriam demanded he accompany her to the principal's office, the student followed her down the hall yelling, "Don't speak to me, don't look at me, you are not human, you are a Jew."
Although the student was ultimately suspended for 10 days, his parents expressed puzzlement about the punishment since, they patiently explained, the teacher was after all Jewish. They complained about the severity of the punishment to the school board.
There were no sensitivity courses laid on for the students or the parents. When, over her objections, the offending student and another guilty of the same offence were returned to Miriam's class, she decided she could no longer work under such circumstances. She contacted the Hate Crime Unit of the local police and reported everything.

Aid Workers Kidnapped by....Al Qaeda?

Three Spanish aid workers were kidnapped in Mauritiana on Sunday. AQIM (Al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb) is suspected of kidnapping the workers.

Don't think I'll be heading that way any time soon.

Guess who's coming to dinner.....

Just in case you have been drowning in turkey, stuffing and apple cider all weekend, or have been busy trying to figure out exactly what happened to Tiger Woods, and as a result have missed this story...

Gateway Pundit reports on the White House crashers' ties to radical Rashid Khalidi and his role at American Task Force on Palestine (which, you can probably guess, is not Israel, Jew or American friendly).

Debbie Schlussel has a very interesting report on how the NY Times changed its own reporting of the story, after their original reports clearly showed Salahi's ties to "Pro Palestinian Terror Group." Check it out.

Excerpt from Debbie Schlussel:
And it looks like the NYTimes gives good lessons in whitewashing to the ATFP, which also scrubbed all references to Salahi from its site. We wouldn’t want any Americans thinking that Palestinians who support terrorism against innocent people would actually crash a White House party, now would we? Sad that I have to reference the far-left, but only Talking Points Memo bothered to capture the scrubbed ATFP page, below. Too bad they didn’t do a screen save of the New York Times article, too. There’s a whole lotta Formula 409 and Comet being put to use over this strange and calculating couple.

This story is just beyond strange. It is deeply disturbing that anyone, anyone, could get into the White House and stand next to the President and other dignitaries. Yes, Obama has many radical connections and friends, but these two supposedly are not part of that group: they were not invited. The Secret Service is insisting these people went through metal detectors, but so what? What was stopping them from stuffing a knife or sharp object into their breastpocket once inside and using it to harm officials, or worst case scenario, the President? What about chemical weapons? What if nothing at all happened and someone was just using this as a recon trip for a future attack?

A very bad day for the Secret Service.

The fruits of appeasement: Iran plans 10 new nuclear sites

And threatens to end 'cooperation' with atomic watchdog.

The Times:
The move comes just two days after world powers united in condemnation of Iran’s nuclear activities in a rare show of international consensus on the threat posed by Tehran’s continued nuclear defiance.
China and Russia joined the United States, Britain, France and Germany in backing an International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) resolution censuring Iran and ordering it to halt construction of a secret uranium enrichment plant near Qom.
The Iranian announcement came on the same day the national Parliament responded to the IAEA condemnation by calling on the Government to prepare a plan on reducing cooperation with the UN body.

All hail the new era of American diplomacy.

What were they thinking? EasyJet uses Holocaust Memorial for promotional photoshoot

When I saw this headline I thought it might be a joke. It's not.

The Local (English language German newspaper):
The November edition of “easyJet Traveller,” which features a fashion section with fashion models in provocative poses amid the pillars of the sombre monument to the six million Jews killed by the Nazis, in addition to shots taken at the city's Jewish Museum, has sparked outrage in the British and Israeli press. According to the paper, easyJet issued a statement apologising to anyone who may have been offended by the magazine spread, explaining that it had been produced by an external advertising agency.Meanwhile a spokesperson for the Foundation for the Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe told the paper that the agency did not register to take the photographs at the site in central Berlin.

Someone in PR at EasyJet needs to start looking for a new job. The attempt to pass the buck here is ridiculous - the photoshoot may have been outsourced but no magazine is ever published without being reviewed by managing and senior editors.

Flying on EasyJet:
Cheap, but their flights seem to never leave on time which is why SMW has only used the airline once.

Visiting the Holocaust Memorial in Berlin:
Admission Free

PR damage caused when EasyJet published fashion shoot photos taken at the Holocaust Memorial not long after they began offering flights between London and Tel Aviv:
Priceless.

OPP removed Canadian flag from "occupied" areas of Caledonia

This is not good PR for the police or the occupiers (although I can't think of a single thing the occupiers have done that would constitute good PR).

What an embarrassment.

Square Mile Alert: "one of the most political documents I've ever seen..."

The European Commission (the EU's law making apparatus) is going after hedge funds as the root of all financial evils. Unfortunately they are not the root of evil, but an easy target for political purposes.

Stephen Fidler writes in the WSJ:

The crisis originated with banks, the traditional and supposedly the most heavily regulated sector of the financial economy. Hedge funds, as Adair Turner, chairman of the U.K. Financial Services Authority, found, "did not play a significant role in the crisis."
But that hasn't stopped some European governments and politicians from behaving as if they had. Hence the proposed legislation on alternative investment funds that is currently meandering its way through the European Union law-making machine. The original proposal that came out of the European Commission in April was "one of the most political documents I've ever seen come out of here," said one commission official.
The reason it was so political, according to this person and others, that the funds were long-standing betes noires of the French and German governments and heartily hated by many members of the European Parliament. The funds were viewed on the continent as extending their malign tentacles into the European economic fabric from their lairs in London and New York.

The glories of universal health care: Another reason why I will not use the NHS

The Telegraph:
As long ago as 2001, conditions at Basildon were described as “Third World” by the Royal College of Nursing because of a shortage of beds. Then, in 2004, Basildon and Thurrock University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust was fined for failing to control the risk of legionnaire’s disease after a patient contracted the illness — weeks later tests showed the legionella bacteria were still present.
Last year, more than 200 new mothers were offered HIV tests after the Trust discovered that a member of staff who had delivered their babies was HIV positive, and in April this year a three-year-old girl died in the paediatric ward after intravenous drip bags were found to have been sabotaged. In 2007, the Trust admitted being at fault in the case of a child who was left disabled after she was starved of oxygen when she was born at Basildon Hospital in 2001.

...
The Trust was not effectively decontaminating reusable equipment and A&E was not clean — 11 out of 12 trolley mattresses checked were stained and two had a foul odour. Half of the curtains that separated cubicles were soiled, some with blood.
There were few nurses with paediatric training, and no consultant with a paediatric interest.
Overall, nurses were not always conducting a full set of patient checks, which could result in failure to recognise a patient was deteriorating.
Complaints about nursing care included failure to monitor, feed and give drugs correctly, and twice as many patients suffered bed sores than the national average.

Use the NHS at your own risk.

I'll take Anti-Semitism for 400....

Britain's former ambassador wrote the following in The Independent on Sunday:

Both Gilbert and Freedman are Jewish, and Gilbert at least has a record of active support for Zionism. Such facts are not usually mentioned in the mainstream British and American media, but The Jewish Chronicle and the Israeli media have no such inhibitions, and the Arabic media both in London and in the region are usually not far behind.

Who is Oliver Miles, Britain's former ambassafor to.........Libya. (Shocker).

For the Daily Double you may be asking who are these guys and why does it matter?
Gilbert and Freedman are members of the Chilcot inquiry (the inquiry into Britain's involement in the war in Iraq). Melanie Phillips picks up the ball on this one and lambasts Miles' pathetic writings:

Sir Martin Gilbert is one of Britain’s most distinguished historians, while Sir Lawrence Freedman also enjoys a stellar reputation as a professor of war studies. That is why they were appointed to the inquiry. But to Miles, they are suspect not just because Gilbert once compared Bush and Blair to Roosevelt and Churchill while Freedman was the supposed architect of intervention in Kosovo and Afghanistan (hello?) as well as Iraq (so it was All His Fault) but because they are Jews -- and even worse Gilbert supports Zionism.
This would appear to be part of the ‘Jewish conspiracy’ theory so fashionable in the UK intelligentsia that the war in Iraq only occurred as a result of pressure from a trans-national Jewish conspiracy acting in the interests of Israel to put the world at risk. The fact that Israel in fact advised at the time that it was Iran they were worried about rather than Iraq does not trouble the propounders of this malevolent libel.

The fact that a former representative of the British government - can write such brazen and ridiculous anti-Semitic garble, and that newspapers would actually publish it, should send chills up your spine.

Happy Thanksgiving!

"At first I thought it might just be some weird glitch": Warman tries to control the message

Seeing as Warman originally tried to go after the wrong media outlet for publishing this article, one has to wonder if he knew the kid that wrote it was only 17? (And that is not to say that the author does not know what he is talking about, it just looks a little David and Goliath). The ensuing events are what one would expect in a message control battle/censorship battle between multiple parties.

Some people never learn.

Very fishy: Fawad Nouri escapes from police custody

Hmmmm a 'jailbreak' with an unpleasant twist:

The two men carried handguns and wore surgical masks and sweatshirt hoods pulled low over their faces. They jumped the guards, knocked them to the ground, then ushered the prisoner into the guards' van and took off.Yesterday's escape was so well planned and played out it has police wondering how the prisoner knew ahead of time he was going to the General, when those appointments are usually not discussed with inmates in advance.

Hopefully Nouri and his accomplices will be back in jail soon, where they clearly belong. As The Spec and police have said - these men are considered armed and dangerous - if you see them do not approach - call the police.

SMW is on the ground, and SEALS are heading for the Courts

SMW is back from the North Country and glad to be safe on the ground. My it is a blustery day.

One of the stories I have been reading up on is the decision to prosecute three Navy SEALS. This is definitely worth reading up on. Below are two reports worth checking out (no point in me repeating other people's words):

Jawa Report: Throwing Navy SEALS Under the Bus
Debbie Schlussel: Hey, Don't Give Terrorist Murderers a Fat Lip; Navy SEALS Criminally Charged

We live in a world where people who blow up planes are set free, but the people who fight and risk their lives to defend our freedoms are prosecuted.....

Yet another reminder that you should not trust everything you read.

Do you know who funds the academics at your school?

No surprise here:

The paper said that the multimillion-dollar Alavi Foundation had given hundreds of thousands of dollars to programs at Columbia University and Rutgers University for Middle Eastern and Persian studies that employ anti-Israel professors "sympathetic" to the Islamic republic.
"We found evidence that the government of Iran really controlled everything about the foundation," the New York Post quoted Adam Kaufmann, investigations chief at the Manhattan District Attorney's Office, as saying.
Feds are working to seize up to $650 million in assets from the Alavi Foundation, which they say also provides funds to a syndicate of Iranian spies based in Europe, the newspaper added.
The New York Post cited one of the biggest donations as being $100,000 to Columbia after the university hosted Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

Windy with a chance of shortbread

Where am I?

SMW is currently away on business and thought the blog would still flow, but it turns out the wireless connection at my hotel is not very good. Sorry. Will post when possible but may be very little until Tuesday.

Yesterday I was getting blown about in a wee plane and it was not fun!

Please remember to keep the people of Cumbria in your prayers (no that is not where SMW is) after they experienced some heavy flooding yesterday. Also please remember the family of PC Bill Barker, a 25 year veteran of the force, who was killed as he worked to rescue victims of the flooding. May he rest in peace.

G20 summit moving to Toronto from Muskoka?

Heh heh. I was really wondering how the heck they would be able to pull something like this off in Huntsville. Now CTV and the G&M are saying it's off, well sort of.

Supposedly the G8 is still going to have some kind of meeting there - it is really hard to imagine how officials can "secure" a small town surrounded by lakes, forests and hills. Good luck.

I guess this is good news and bad news, depending on whether you live in the Muskoka area or in Toronto.

Square Mile Alert: Slippery Slope....

Alright saving my comments until I hear what is actually said......but have a look at what The Telegraph thinks will be put forward in the Queen's Speech today:

The new rules will come into force next year if the Financial Services Bill passes through Parliament before the next general election, which must be held before June 3. Lord Myners, the City minister, has said he's confident that the bill will be passed.
The Bill also proposes:
* FSA to be given power to tear up existing contracts if pay packages incentivise risk
* Consumers will be allowed to launch class action suits
* A ban on unrequested credit card cheques
* The FSA to establish a consumer education agency
* A new Council of Financial Stability
* An advice service to give consumers direct help

Channel 4 (no, not the one from Detroit) and the Big bad Joooooos

Channel 4 has been airing an alleged documentary about the "Israel Lobby" in the UK. Conspiracy theories abound. I have to confess I do not watch tv (seriously, we do not have tv channels in my house) so I have not seen the program. However, I have read a great deal of the online comments made about "Dispatches" and I find them full of typical anti-Semitic ignorance.

Jonathan Hoffman and Chas Newkey-Burden have written extensively on Dispatches, their pieces are worth checking out.

Newky-Burden writes:
Because where is this all-powerful Israeli lobby? Why did it not manage to convince the UK to veto the Goldstone report at the UN? How did it fail to stop the UK from starting an arms embargo on Israel? How did it allow our Foreign Minister to attack Operation Cast Lead as ‘disproportionate’, or the UK to finance the Breaking The Silence organisation? As for media activism, if the Israeli lobby had the power it is ascribed, it would have stopped the widespread and routine distortions years ago. Oborne couldn’t find an all-powerful lobby, so he tried to create a false impression of one. It’s the same make-believe world [John] Snow inhabits with his “pretty pathetic” Hamas rockets.

It is not surprising that the CST is concerned about some of the comments spurred by Dispatches:

“It won’t change anything. Most of the British public are too stupid to realise how important this programme is. We are being attacked from within by fifth columns in our parliament for this murderous regime. Time to put a stop to the influence they have over our lives and the lives of our troops they send to fight for their ideals in the Middle East once and for all.”NO BLINKERS ON on 15 November 2009 at 07:30

“It is disgraceful that C4 is intending to expose the pro-Israel lobby. Surely it is a signatory to the "National Press & TV Zionist Agreement", which stipulates in paragraph one: "Thou shalt not print nor broadcast any reference to the undemocratic control by the agents of Israel over the House of Commons &/or the House of Lords."TIMOTHY WILLIAMS on 14 November 2009 at 17:50

"The powerful impact of the Zionist Lobby on British politics is more damaging to our country than that of the ghastly BNP."VERONICA PLANTON on 07 November 2009 at 23:18
[SMW: Google Veronica Planton and you will find her signature on numerous anti-Israel petitions. Shocker.]

You can read further quotes on The JC's website.

Dispatches was made and broadcast by the same channel that had Mahmoud Ahmedinejad deliver last year's 'alternative Christmas message'. And if THAT does not prove to you the true power of the Israel Lobby than you must be blinded by the lies the super sekrit Zionist groups are spreading.

Turn off Channel 4.

US and Canadian Terrorists Abroad *updated*

Sounds strange but appears to be coming more likely. Rusty Shackleford, of The Jawa Report, has written an informative piece for Pajamas Media about the recent arrest of two men in Chicago who now appear to have links to the Mumbai terror attacks which took place last November. One of the men arrested, David Headley, allegedly visited Mumbai and posed as a Jew in order to gain access to Chabad House. Disgusting.
Rusty writes:
Indian news media now reports that Headley pretended to be Jewish in order to gain access to the house.
These reports perfectly match the pattern set forth in the federal indictments against Headley and his co-conspirator Tahawar Rana. Headley goes abroad posing as a businessman. He scouts the locations of possible targets for terror attacks. He lies in order to enter targeted buildings. He then passes on that information to his Pakistan-based contacts.

Canadian news networks are also reporting that India's nuclear sites have been put on high alert after the government learned details relating to the arrests of David Headley and Tahawwur Hussain Rana (a Canadian who was also arrested in Chicago with Headley). All this is taking place as Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper visits India.

I agree with Rusty; these are disturbing developments from a North American standpoint. Canadians and Americans must take note of what is taking place around them. This is your backyard.

Update: Rusty has posted CTV's video report about the Canadian connection over on the Jawa Report. Click here to see it. One other factoid for those of you who care - Canada has been steadfast in its support for India since the Mumbai attacks took place. As mentioned over at Jawa, PM Stephen Harper visited Chabad House and other sites this week - however months ago Canadian Conservative MP Jason Kenney, Minister of Citizenship, Immigration and Multicultularism also visited sites of the massacre to pay his repects.

Who's funding jihad in Britain? Me and You.

The Telegraph:
Since April 2007, the Home Office has spent £611,470 on “living costs” for people put under effective house arrest on the advice of MI5. In addition, the Government is also paying some of the suspects undisclosed sums in benefits.

Hey here's an idea: PUT THEM IN PRISON. Oh wait, that would violate their "human rights." If I was a terrorist I think I would move to Britain and get caught on purpose. It's gotta be better than working from some cave on the Af-Pak border.

Whoa: FSA being given power to "tear up" bonuses"

Chancellor, Alistair Darling (pictured), revealed that the FSA would be given the authority to scrap payouts if they posed a risk to the financial system, thanks to new powers to be unveiled this Wednesday in the Queen's speech.

It will come into force next year if the bill is approved by Parliament, and would apply to all British banks, as well as the British subsidiaries of overseas banks operating in the UK.

A long week....Roundup

Well it has been a long week indeed, it seems bad news is coming out of everywhere. The aftermath of the Fort Hood shootings, the Windsor (Ontario) Police being castrated by political correctness, civilian trials in New York for terrorists, etc. etc.

SMW has a pile of reading to get through today and is looking forward to a night on the town (because yes, there are still some good things left in London). For a roundup of the week's madness - along with some great analysis - I highly recommend Sultan Knish's Friday Afternoon Roundup. It really is one of the best out there.

For those of you looking for some light-hearted fare check out the Infidel Blogger Awards. The nominees, and nominators here seem to have a pretty good sense of humour.

Check this stuff out, then go do something fun. Enjoy a Saturday afternoon with the family or friends, or both!

Friday Night Deliciousness

Yummmmm.

Windsor Police Chief Bows to Islam

Dear Windsor Police Chief,

Please grow a pair.

For once I agree with the union:
"In my belief, this isn't a cultural issue," said Const. Ed Parent, president of the Windsor Police Association. "These officers had a warrant to arrest someone. They went in, and they arrested this person."

SMW was in Windsor (Ontario) a few weeks ago when this whole debacle was going down; there are definitely parts of it that look a little more like Windsoristan than Windsor. I have some relatives that still live there who were told by local KFC employees that they had to stop serving their special ribs because too many of the Muslim university students complained that KFC was serving pork products. Anyway I digress.....

Check this out - H/T to Blazing Cat Fur:
Windsor Police Apologize for doing their job which, apparently, offends Muslims

The Welfare State: 1.2million households get 15K/yr in benefits

There were 1.2 million households whose total welfare benefits were worth £15,000 or more in 2007/08, the Department of Work and Pensions said. In 1997/98, the figure was 600,000.
And there were 300,000 households who received £20,000 from the state – more than the take-home pay of a worker on the average salary. That is three times the figure when Labour came to power in 1997.

....
But the number of working age people considered to be “economically inactive is much higher and stands at 8 million. That total includes 2.6 million people claiming incapacity benefit.

Culture of entitlement.

Anwar al-Awlaki's ties in Britain

There are many. The Times outlines some of al-Awlaki's supporters in the UK, then seems incredibly eager to point out that these 'supporters' have "denounced" Awlaki:

Despite his extremist reputation, the cleric had attracted support from mainstream British Muslim groups. Azad Ali, president of the Civil Service Islamic Society, wrote last November that Mr al-Awlaki was “one of my favourite speakers and scholars”.
Mr Ali, whose society’s patron is Sir Gus O’Donnell, the Cabinet Secretary, distanced himself from the cleric’s views last night. He said: “I reject them and disassociate myself from them completely.”

SMW: How convenient. *See below for more about this*
The cleric was also praised in 2006 by Osama Saeed, an SNP parliamentary candidate, who said “he preached nothing but peace”. Mr Saeed said last night he felt “cheated” by Mr al-Awlaki. He added: “I completely disagree with what he has said about Fort Hood.”
But Mr al-Awlaki’s lectures are still circulated widely
. The Times acquired DVDs of his lectures at two Islamic bookshops in East London, while Jimas, a registered charity based in Ipswich, offers downloads of his sermons.
Earlier this year a video lecture by Mr al-Awlaki was delivered at the East London mosque with a poster depicting New York in flames. The cleric was also the lead tutor, again via video, for weekend courses in Islamic thought held in April in London and Birmingham.

Awlaki has significant support in the UK. Terribly convenient that people are suddenly "distancing" themselves from him - yet his radicalism is nothing new. Some say denounce and distance, I say taqiyya.

Harry's Place has done an excellent two part write-up on Awlaki's supporters in Britain - and they specifically look at some of the supporters/denouncers mentioned in The Times. Read it.
Part One: Awlaki's followers Azad Ali
Part Two: Awlaki's British Supporters: Caged Prisoners

The Jawa Report has written extensively about al-Awlaki - and his ties to Caged Prisoners (also a favourite cause of "noted terror apologist" Yvonne Ridley).
Yemen decides to search for al-Awlaki
Awlaki praises Fort Hood Attacks
Noted Al Qaeda Supporter to Speak at Human Rights Fundraiser in London

Awlaki's ties in the UK are deep and wide. Makes you wonder...

Life Sentence for German Killer

The demented, bigoted, coward who stabbed a pregnant woman to death in a German courtroom has been handed a life sentence. Buh bye.

SMW cannot help but notice the amount of media attention and public outrage this case garnered (and rightfully so) compared to the coverage and public reaction to the brutal torture slaying of French Jew Illan Halimi. All hate crimes are equal, but some are worse than others...?

Lock him up

Throw. Away. The. Key.

Another reason to never have kids in Britain.

WaPo Solves Fort Hood Mystery

A lesson in journalism:

Active and retired Muslim service members recalled difficulties concerning their religion but said they cannot relate to the extreme isolation and harassment described by Maj. Nidal M. Hasan, the suspect in last week's Fort Hood slayings. They also said they hope the killings do not roll back the progress they have seen.

So that is why he did it. He was lonely. Of course.

I shed no tears.

John Muhammad (also known as D.C. Sniper) to be executed tonight.

UK Jewish Film Festival...

It's on right now here in London. Check it out.

Whoa: B'nai Brith Canada Takes on Radical Islam

Awesomeness via BlazingCatFur:

B'nai Brith placed this ad in the National Post yesterday:

This is golden.

Well this should spark some faux outrage from the PC police and some crazy outrage from those who are the subject of the ad. Counting down to fatwas and flag burnings...

Another reason why I won't have kids in the UK....

A "gang" in Bolton (some as young as six years old) attacked paramedics as they tried to save a toddler who had suffered serious burns.

Twenty Years Later...

Melanie Phillips reflects:

But the truth is that to be hostile to the western nation is to be hostile to democracy. And indeed, with the development of the EU superstate we can see that the victory over one anti-democratic regime within Europe — the Soviet Union — has been followed by surrender to another.
For the republic of Euroland puts loyalty to itself higher than that to individual nations and their values. It refused to commit itself in its constitution to uphold Christianity, the foundation of western morality.
Instead, it is committed to moral and cultural relativism, which sets group against group and guarantees supreme and antidemocratic power to the bureaucrats setting the rules of ‘diversity’ and outlawing all dissent from permitted attitudes.
When the Berlin Wall fell, we told ourselves that this was the end of ideology. We could not have been more wrong.

Read it all.

God bless Truro, Nova Scotia

"If you don't stand behind our troops, feel free to stand in front of them."
Where can I get this bumper sticker?

Truro, Nova Scotia is a small town surrounded by even smaller towns and villages in the heart of Nova Scotia. Truro has given birth to many brave Canadian men and women who served in Canada's Armed Forces. SMW has a soft spot in her heart for Truro, I spent many summers there as a child on my great-grandparent's farm. My uncle grew up on this farm and went on to join Canada's Air Force, where he served for several years before returning to civilian life.
Many things in Truro have changed over the past few decades, but the heart and soul of this area has not. Here the flag is always flown with pride, and members of our military are treated with the respect they deserve. What a pleasant surprise it was for me to find this feature article in the National Post.

It is also a place where military tradition runs deep. The names of 278 townsmen who fell in the two world wars, and now Afghanistan, are engraved on the downtown cenotaph. "The attitude of people here is they support the troops 100%," said Garry Higgins, president of the local Royal Canadian Legion branch. Remembrance Day ceremonies draw between 3,000 and 4,000 people, he said. Herb Peppard, an 89-year-old veteran of the Second World War, said the respect he receives from the townspeople reflects their appreciation of the military. "I think Nova Scotia is always represented well [in the Forces] compared to its population," he said. "We get very patriotic here."

Please do read the whole thing

The article mentions lack of tourism information for the area - it is true there is not an abundance of stuff to do there but take a drive around Truro (go to places like Brookfield, Upper Stewiacke, Upper Mosquodoboit) and you will be amazed by the rolling hills and natural beauty. You can also watch the incredible Bay of Fundy tides roll in and out while dining at the fabulous Palliser Restaurant (Tidal Bore Rd, Truro NS). If you are looking for the best fish and chips you can find (better than any I've had here in the UK) visit Murphy's Fish and Chips (88 Esplanade Truro NS).
I had to get my two cents in - can't let the Post make everyone think there is nothing worth seeing and doing in Truro. While you are there make sure you stop by the War Memorial and pay tribute to Canada's heroes.
